Pros

  • Custom made doll cheerleading uniform
  • Lots of attention to details
  • Fits all popular 18" dolls

Cons

  • Have to order a minimum of 12

Description

  • Reputable company that knows uniforms and what cheerleaders want.
  • Top, skirt and briefs included although you have to order a minimum of 12.

Guide Review - Doll Cheerleading Uniforms

What an exciting concept Spirit Innovations came up with when they decided to custom make doll cheerleading uniforms to coordinate with your squads. The uniforms are well made and the attention to detail is fantastic. The uniforms fit 18" dolls (not included) and come with top, skirt and briefs. The only con I can say about them is that you have to order a minimum of 12, but considering the price and that they are custom made, it's still a very good deal.

Cheering Your Way Through Coll
Feb 25th 2012, 11:08

One of the best investments you can make in yourself is a College education. It can also be one of the most expensive. Thankfully though, all your hard work, dedication and determination in Cheerleading, dance or gymnastics could help defray the costs.

Many colleges and universities offer Cheerleading/Athletic scholarships as well as academic ones. There are also numerous need-based grants and loans offered by state and federal agencies.

The key to getting any College/University financial aid is really quite simple. It all comes down to four basic factors - Who, What, When, and Where.

The Where

  • Decide where you want to attend College. If possible, travel there and tour the campus and facilities.
  • Use the Internet to research schools and programs.
  • Consider the cost of traveling to and from school and home.
  • Consider the cost of living in that area.

The Who

  • Find out who is the coach or advisor for your sport.
  • Find out who is in charge of the school's financial aid department.
  • Contact these people and express your interest in applying for a scholarship/financial aid. Many College Cheerleading programs have Web sites and e-mail addresses for their coaches/advisors. Remember to be professional in all correspondences.
  • If you are still in high school, talk to your high school counselor. There maybe local scholarships available for graduating seniors.
  • Discuss your plans with your parents.

The What

  • Find out what is available as far as financial aid/scholarships or grants.
  • Make note of all the requirements. (Some colleges require videos and references in addition to their try out requirements).
  • Prepare yourself for try outs. Know exactly what is expected of you.
  • Prepare your paper work and have your financial records handy.

The When

  • Find out when all deadlines are and be sure to meet them. It's best to be early in the event you encounter problems.
  • Follow up on anything you've submitted. Keep copies and good records of everything.

This may all seem overwhelming to begin with, but what better way is there to spend your time and efforts than on yourself and your future? Good Luck!

NOTE: If you are a Cheerleading coach and your school offers Cheerleading scholarships, please send me an email with the details, so we may add it to our site.

Cheerleading Safety
Feb 25th 2012, 11:08

As with any sport, safety should be of the utmost concern for all involved in cheerleading. Whether you're a cheerleader, coach or parent, your main objective should be to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

There are many references to safety studies that lead to insinuations that cheerleading is not a safe sport, but regardless of the statistics, one injury is too many. No one wants a broken bone, a day in the hospital, a visit to the ER or a catastrophic injury. Especially when a small amount of common sense can prevent any one of these outcomes.

Simply by knowing why the majority of injuries occur will help you better understand how to prevent them. Armed with these fact you can make certain your squad has an injury free season.

Why Cheerleading Injuries Occur

  • Lack of conditioning and not being physically prepared
  • Untrained coaches, instructors or advisors
  • Poor decision making by instructors or participants
  • Risk taking attitudes
  • Inadequate supervision
  • Inadequate equipment (example: improper shoes)
  • Non-cushioned surfaces
  • Poor nutrition
  • Attempting difficult stunts before being ready

What You Can do to Prevent Injuries

  • Adhere to all rules and regulations
  • Practice on mats or pads
  • Wear well fitting shoes with proper cushion and support
  • Have an emergency plan in place and practice it
  • Require proper spotting
  • Gradually progress to difficult stunts and skills
  • Become educated and certified in safety, first aid and CPR
  • Require and use the proper techniques
  • Learn how to identify eating disorders
  • Treat all injuries as soon as they happen
  • Increase flexibility
  • Strengthen lower back, abdoman and shoulders
  • Gradually increase intensity of practice

Know that cheerleading carries some unavoidable risks and no amount of prevention can stop every injury, but with the proper information and knowledge the severity and frequency of injuries can be greatly reduced. Be safe, stay safe.

Cheerleaders - What it Takes
Feb 24th 2012, 11:08

Cheerleading Megaphone

Cheerleaders - What it Takes

If you're like most people, the word cheerleader conjures up visions of beautiful, young women in skimpy, sexy outfits. You may also imagine a cheerleader is not too bright and more concerned about what color lipstick to wear than world events. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Cheerleading takes an extreme amount of physical work as well as practice. Most cheerleaders practice an average of 8 hours a week. They must be as graceful as dancers, as poised as models, and as athletic as any gymnasts. Cheerleaders also have to be in top physical condition. The San Francisco 49er's Gold Rushmembers are encouraged to be "on a consistent cardiovascular & body conditioning workout program". In addition, they are advised to take a variety of dance classes including jazz, hip hop, and ballet.

As for intelligence, high school and college cheerleaders are usually required to have at least a 2.0 GPA to try out. A lot of schools will disqualify or remove a cheerleader that falls below an 1.5 average in any semester. This year the Denver Bronco's Cheerleaders boast of having 11 bachelor's degree-holders, two master's degree-holders, one graduate student, three teachers, the 1999 Miss Colorado USA, 1999 Miss Teen Colorado USA, 1998 Miss Teen Colorado USA and 13 full-time students on their team. Obviously, these women are certainly not lacking in intelligence.

Just like basketball, football, and baseball Cheerleading is a sport. So, the next time you look at a cheerleader on the field or court, remember she/he has put in many hours of dedication and there is more there than good looks, a pretty smile, and an outgoing personality.

Before You Buy Cheerleading Shoes
Feb 24th 2012, 11:08

Whether you're stunting, jumping, competing, practicing or just standing around your shoes take a lot of abuse and what you put on feet can make a big difference in your comfort and performance. Cheerleading shoes should look good and they should meet the needs of this active sport. You should not only consider Cheerleading shoes part of your uniform, but think of them as part of your Cheerleading equipment. Choosing the right Cheerleading shoe should be a top priority.

Price
As in most things you get what you pay for. The price you pay for a Cheerleading shoe can make a difference in the quality of the shoe. It can not only affect the comfort, but also the durability and upkeep. Cheerleading shoes range in price from approximately $20 to $70 with the average shoes running from $30 - $50. Find a price range that meets your needs and then shop for the best shoe in that range.

• Top Picks in Cheerleading Shoes

Comfort
Nothing can make you more miserable than a pair of uncomfortable shoes. Look for good cushioning, flexibility, lightweight and breathability in your Cheerleading shoes.

Fit/Size
Insure the fit of your Cheerleading shoes. If possible try them on before you purchase them or make sure you can return them if they don't fit properly. Some brands fit differently from others, so if you're use to one brand and are making a change to another, ask the company how the new brand runs.

Features
You'll want a shoe that is as lightweight as possible but still offers the most comfort, support and durability. Look for any added features you need for stunting or tumbling such as finger grips or grooves, flexibiliy, shock absorption, scalloped archways and ankle support. Choose a shoe that meets the needs of your activity. Keep in mind the upkeep of the shoe and if necessary weatherproofing.

Style
Most Cheerleading shoes come in white with added team color insertions. Check the style you're ordering to be sure they meet your needs in style and colors.
